Erick Iriarte Ahon began his involvement in the domain name space as a lawyer in .PE country code top-level domain (ccTLD). Currently is the General Manager of LACTLD (Latin American and Caribbean ccTLD Association). (http://www.lactld.org) and member of the ccTLD .ni, ccTLD .pe and ccTLD .pr Advisory Committees, also he was member of .ORG Advisory Council. Iriarte served as International Advisor of the Ministry of Communications of Colombia in the process of new policies, RFP and redelegation of ccTLD .co.

He has worked as coordinator for LAC of the ICANN Membership Implementation Task Force in 2000. Since 1999, Iriarte Ahon also has been a member of the Non-Commercial User Constituency, and he was a member of the ICANN At-Large Advisory Committee, serving as vice-chair and representing Latin America and the Caribbean, he finished his job in December 2006 when signed the LAC-RALO Foundation Act in Sau Paulo. Then we has member of the Fellowship Committe of ICANN (http://www.icann.org/en/fellowships/)

As part of his work in the domain name space, Iriarte Ahon is in charge of the LatinoamerICANN project ( http://latinoamericann.org),  which is dedicated to information and analysis diffusion and proposals on issues such as domain names, IP numbers, and Internet governance in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In October 2004, Erick coordinated a meeting on Internet governance in Latin America, as a commission of the United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force. He was member of Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group of Internet Governance Forum ( http://www.intgovforum.com) and delegate by Peru in the Latin American Digital Platform (eLAC 2010) where he coordinates de goal 78 about Regulation of Information Society (http://www.eclac.cl/socinfo/elac/)

As an activist, he is involved in issues including Internet governance and information society policies and regulation in Latin America and the Caribbean; and the background of national domain name policies in various Latin American countries. He worked with ECLAC, Organization of American States (OAS), UNESCO, Andean Community, and different governments in Latin American Region.

He is executive director of Alfa - Redi (http://www.alfa-redi.org),  a scientific community focused on information society policies and regulatory framework and an organization of Latin American civil society and was Coordinator of ICT Area for Latin America of ITDG ( http://www.itdg.org.pe).

Finally he is the senior Partner of Iriarte & Associates (http://www.iriartelaw.com), lawfirm focus in New Technologies and Intellectual Propierty and teacher of the Postgrade in Law and New Technologies in the Catholic University of Peru.
