About

Mike Hollyman is a distinguished engineer at Verisign in the cyber strategy and research group under the technology and security organization. In this role, he focuses on internet routing security, denial-of-service (DoS) threats, routing efficiency, and next-generation networking protocols. Mike works with numerous private sector, government, and community organizations as conduits for both learning and sharing information in ways that enhance the overall internet and service delivery for Verisign.

Mike joined Verisign in 2019 and spent his first two years with the company in the architecture organization.

Before joining Verisign, he was a UNIX administrator for the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois. While there, he gained experience with interconnected systems and the threats posed through applications, operating systems, and networking components. Later, he worked for Qwest Communications before spending many years in security and networking systems. Throughout his time at Arbor Networks and Deepfield/Nokia, he expanded his understanding of the internet and how it can be measured for threat detection.

Mike serves as a working group member of the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) and is an active participant in the Secure Inter-Domain Routing (SIDR) Operations Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

Mike is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
