Maksym Dvorovyi is the Internet of Rights Fellow with ARTICLE 19, primarily working as a legal counsel for Digital Security Lab Ukraine, an NGO advocating for a human-rights oriented digital environment in Ukraine. He is engaged with several working groups drafting Ukrainian media and digital rights legislative amendments, from AVMSD implementation to online political ads regulation. Previously, he was working as a parliamentary assistant to the Chair of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Information Policy Committee and interned in the Parliament of Canada.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a not-for-profit corporation, which essentially functions as a governing body for the Internet and brings together representatives from government, civil society, academia, the private sector, and the technical community. Despite its importance in crafting policies related to world wide web development, a significant portion of digital rights lawyers underestimates ICANN’s regulatory role in contrast to one of the national governments. more
