Ajith Francis is the Senior Manager, Policy Programs, of the Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network. In his role, he manages the policy development work of stakeholders in the three thematic Programs of the organization.
Prior to joining the Secretariat, Ajith was a Consultant at the Government of India Planning Commission’s ‘India Backbone Implementation Network’. Working for this intra-governmental startup, he coordinated stakeholder groups to help reform the process of developing and implementing India’s policy plans. Ajith was also a Digital Marketing Account Planner at Google Inc. and gained experiences at UN Environment.
He graduated from Sciences Po Paris with a Master’s in Public Policy specialising in Economics and Technology Policy, was a visiting student at George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, and holds a Bachelor in Commerce from Bangalore University. He speaks English, Hindi and intermediate French.
DNS Abuse and how to address it has been the topic of intense, often conflictual, and rarely conclusive discussions for many years, starting with the very definition of the term and the degree of responsibility bestowed upon DNS operators. In 2018, after several months of intersessional work, the Internet & Jurisdiction Global Conference brought together in Ottawa more than 200 key stakeholders to define a roadmap to address certain jurisdictional challenges on the Internet, including DNS abuse. more
