Rudolf Rijgersberg is Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for International Relations ‘Clingendael’.

Rudolf conducts research on the effects of a changing trans-national environment for territorial or state-based governance. His areas of expertise are globalization & the changing role of the state and the Internet & new forms of governance.

Rudolf holds a PhD(law) from the University of Groningen. His dissertation entitled ‘The Modern State and Transnational Interdependence’ explored the implications of globalization for democratic constitutional governance by using the Internet as lens to examine the effects of globalization for modern governance. Rudolf further holds an MA(social sciences) with honours from University of Glasgow, an MLitt with distinction in philosophy from University of St. Andrews and an LLB from Leiden University.
