Ray Everett-Church currently serves as Director of Email Policy for Habeas, Inc.. Previously he founded PrivacyClue LLC, a privacy-oriented consultancy and served as VP for Consulting at privacy and security consulting firm ePrivacy Group, where he was part of the team that built anti-spam technology company TurnTide Inc. In 1999, he became the first corporate Chief Privacy Officer, creating that position at Internet advertising company AllAdvantage. Previously he was an attorney with the Washington, DC-area telecommunications law firm of Haley Bader & Potts, PLC. He is a founder of CAUCE, an anti-spam advocacy group, and co-author of Internet Privacy for Dummies.

According to the majority of the testimony at this month's "Spam Summit," held by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the state of the fight against spam is pretty much the same as it has been for the last several years. The two days of presentations can largely be boiled down to the following bullets: Spam volumes continue to increase, being driven by the growth of "botnets"...
