As vice president of the cyber strategy and research team, Yong Kim leads engineers and researchers focused on cybersecurity initiatives in support of Verisign’s operational security and overarching mission objectives.

In this role, he focuses on internet infrastructure security, stability, resiliency, applied research, security operations, techno-policy initiatives, and operational industry and community engagements. Yong and his team work with an array of private sector, government, and community organizations developing mechanisms to increase collaboration and mitigate threats posed by bots, malware, phishing, spam, denial-of-service attacks, and other related activities. Additionally, he serves as chief of staff for Verisign’s executive vice president and chief security officer.

Yong currently serves as a board member of the Messaging, Malware, and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group, a working group member of the Internet Society’s Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security, and is an active participant in the Anti-Phishing Working Group and Internet Engineering Task Force.

Before joining Verisign, Yong held leadership positions with Cisco Systems, Institute for International Research, and Exelon Corporation, in roles focused on cybersecurity industry analyst relations, product development, and business development.

Yong holds a Bachelor of Arts in government and politics and Master of Arts in telecommunications from George Mason University.
