Sorene Assefa. is a Cybersecurity and Digital Governance expert with over 15 years of experience advancing inclusive digital transformation across Africa and globally. Her work spans cybersecurity diplomacy, technical advisory, capacity building, and multistakeholder digital policy engagement. She has contributed to global processes such as the UN Open-Ended Working Group on ICT Security, the Ad Hoc Committee on Cybercrime, and the Global Digital Compact, and plays a key role in Africa’s digital governance ecosystem as Coordinator of the Africa Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF).
Sorene has contributed across platforms such as the IGF, CSTD, UNGIS, the WSIS Forum, NETmundial+10, and SEDGov, advocating for access, trust, and digital resilience as essential pillars of sustainable development and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
