Paul McGrady is an innovator in the intellectual property space who enjoys a nationwide reputation as the go-to professional for legal work at the intersection of information technology and intellectual property, with special emphasis on trademark, social media, ICANN matters, new top level domain names (.brands and generic terms), counseling and disputes, domain name disputes, traditional and online brand enforcement, global brand strategy, internal brand training, copyright, Internet related transactions, and related aspects of privacy/data protection. Paul has served in the past as Chair of Trademarks at an AMLAW 100 law firm as well as interim semi-seconded, in-house Head of IP at a globally famous consumer products company. Paul also conceived of and help launch a domain name registrar (which has since been acquired by Corsearch) designed to help brands clear the clutter of the domain name space. Paul has a mix of Big Law and In-house experience that makes him a practical problem solver and capable of participating in the creative process with his business clients.

Specialties: Paul is the author of McGrady On Domain Names, the three-volume definitive treatise on domain name law and McGrady on Social Media, the practical guidebook for attorneys, and McGrady on Social Media Aspects of Employment Law, all of which are published by LexisNexis. He is a veteran of over 500 successful proceedings under the Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Procedure (UDRP) and related policies and multiple litigations brought under the Lanham Act including the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). Paul is a former member of the INTA Board of Directors, past chair of the INTA Internet Committee, and formerly represented the Intellectual Property Constituency on ICANN’s GNSO Council. Paul now serves as the Nominating Committee’s appointee to the GNSO Council for the Non-contracted Parties House and is the team leader for the GNSO Council’s SubPro Small Team.
