Natasha D’Souza is the Product Manager for Internet of Things (IoT) Security at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) in Ottawa, a national not-for-profit best known for managing the .CA domain and developing new enterprise-level cybersecurity products. She is currently based in Ottawa, Canada, and recently joined the CIRA team to help them advance their mission of promoting a trusted internet for all users.

Natasha an engineer by training and an expert in product development and marketing. She graduated from Concordia University with a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Carleton University with an M.Eng. in Technology Innovation Management, and has worked and consulted for a variety of organizations. She is a past winner of the Ontario Neuroscience Fellowship and a 2019 Nominee for the Manning Innovation Award. Natasha is passionate about helping people build and leverage technology. Her work has been featured in Canadian Healthcare Technology and at Brain Games at the Ontario Science Center. Her favourite challenge is to take concepts ‘from idea to app store’ in the most impactful way possible for her organization and clients.

Her latest project is an innovative framework to securely provision generic Internet of Things (IoT) devices. CIRA’s Secure IoT Registry will allow the world’s IoT devices to seamlessly and securely connect between any manufacturer, owner, service provider and network operator. Last year Natasha’s team was chosen to participate in a brand new IoT accelerator hosted by the Ottawa-based startup incubator L-SPARK Global. Over the course of 2019 they developed proof of concept for the Secure IoT Registry by collaborating with industry-leading partners including Blackberry and Telus. The Secure IoT Registry has also been demoed internationally at conferences including ICANN and the GSMA Mobile World Congress. You can learn more at cira.ca/IoT.

When she’s not developing new products, Natasha enjoys getting away from our connected world, and recently spent a few nights camped at Australia’s southernmost point.
