BlueCat Networks Selects Afilias to Power New DNS Offering

Proteus Cloud Services is the first managed DNS service to fully integrate internal and external DNS with IP Address ManagementToday Afilias, a leading provider of Internet infrastructure services, announced that BlueCat Networks, the IPAM Intelligence™ company, has selected Afilias’ FlexDNSSM Platform to power its new DNS offering. Proteus Cloud Services is the first service that fully integrates internal and external DNS with centralized IP Address Management (IPAM), providing customers with the simplicity of a single interface and vendor to manage all of their IP and DNS needs on one of the most highly reliable DNS networks available.

“We selected Afilias because of their professionalism and reputation as a secure, reliable DNS provider that is already serving over 16 million domains and billions of DNS transactions across the Internet today,” said Luc Roy, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing for BlueCat Networks. “Afilias allowed us to bring a new solution to market which improves our customers’ ability to manage their external DNS, save them capital and operational expenses, improve their efficiency, and ensure that they have the best DNS available.”

Afilias’ FlexDNS Platform provides three different ways to utilize Afilias’ DNS network: A Web-based portal, AXFR (DNS zone transfer), or an Application Programming Interface (API). BlueCat Networks selected Afilias’ API, which is fully documented, REST and XML-based. They have used this API to seamlessly integrate the propagation of customers’ DNS changes across Afilias’ global, anycast DNS network within BlueCat’s existing Proteus IP address management interface.

“We are pleased to have BlueCat Networks as our newest customer using the innovative new features we’ve built with our FlexDNS Platform,” said John Kane, Vice President of Corporate Services for Afilias. “DNS is quickly becoming one of the most important technologies for organizations, as every service hosted ‘in the cloud’ depends on DNS to work. We can empower companies that provide hosted or managed services to improve their overall performance and reliability.
