.pw - The Professional Web Launch Schedule Announced

Sunrise starts 3rd December, 2012

The .PW Registry today announced the launch schedule for the .PW top level domain namespace. .pw—the Professional Web was launched by the Directi Group as a re-purposed generic, unrestricted, clean and global TLD focused on professionals and businesses looking to showcase their presence online. Professionals using the .PW namespace can choose first choice memorable names at an affordable price via multiple partners across the globe.

The .PW Registry will be powered by industry stalwart CentralNic. They come with a stellar background of over 16 years of experience and currently power the backend of 27 global domain extensions.

The launch schedule includes a Sunrise, Landrush and General Availability phase. Sunrise will start from 3rd December, 2012 and last for 68 days till 8th February, 2013. Landrush will begin 10 days later on 18th February, 2013 and last for a month till 18th March, 2013. General Availability starts on 25th March, 2013. Highlights of each phase can be found on the Registry website.

“We’ve kept it simple with just 3 phases but have taken the opportunity to build in best in class features for each phase” said Sandeep Ramchandani, Business Head of the .PW Registry. Any individual or company with a registered trademark filed before or on 1st December, 2012 can apply for the Sunrise period. Registrars need not worry about heading the registration queue as duplicate applications will be settled via auction. All entities with a valid trademark are invited to participate in the Sunrise, which will be handled by the TM.biz platform, a veteran of multiple Sunrises.

At Landrush, hundreds of generic and premium domains will be released. Parties interesting in developing and utilizing .PW domains are invited to contact the Registry for strategic partnership opportunities. All contended applications will be decided via an auction process at a leading auction platform.

General Availability will start on 25th March, 2013 and domains will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registrars need not perform any technical integration for Sunrise and Landrush and can connect to the Registry via standard EPP for General Availability. All phases are open to ICANN Registrars and select members of the IP community and large webhosts.

Further details on the launch schedule, FAQs and the registrar accreditation process are available on www.registry.pw.
