World Domain Day (WDD) was held in India for the first time last month where hundreds gathered to discuss domain names and related markets. Key topics included the announcement of soon to be available domains in a number of Indian languages. “The domain names will be available in Indian Languages. Domain names Bharat in Devanagri script covers Indian languages like Boro, Hindi, Dogri, Konkani, Mythili, Marathi, Nepali and Sindhi. For example, nixi, bharat will be for Hindi. This is going to be followed up with domain names in other languages including Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Urdu, Tamil and Punjabi,” said Dr Govind, CEO, of National Internet Exchange of India.
