ICANN Publishes gTLD Statistics and Trends Report, Asks for Community Feedback

ICANN has published gTLD Marketplace Health Index (Beta) for community feedback: “The gTLD Marketplace Health Index presents statistics and trends related to generic top-level domains. ICANN intends to publish these statistics biannually to track progress against its goal of supporting the evolution of the domain name marketplace to be robust, stable, and trusted.”

— Total gTLDs: ICANN has provided the metrics below representing the total number of second-level domain names in existence in gTLDs from 2010-2015. Additional metrics track the total number of second-level domain name registrations in internationalized gTLDs (IDNs) and the year-over-year growth rates in all second-level domain name registrations in gTLDs from 2010-2015.

— ICANN has also encouraged those interested in the topic to join the gTLD Marketplace Health Index Advisory Panel, a group of community volunteers convened earlier this year to collaborate with ICANN on the design of the health index.
