AusRegistry International, a leading provider of Domain Name Registry Solutions for Top Level Domains (TLDs), has entered into a contract with the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) to provide Domain Name Registry Software and consulting services for establishing a new administrative body to manage the .qa country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD). Under the terms of this contract, AusRegistry International’s Domain Name Registry Software and associated services will be utilised for the management and operation of the existing .qa ccTLD and the Arabic script representation of ‘Qatar’ when approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
AusRegistry International’s CEO Adrian Kinderis said: “AusRegistry International is delighted to have been selected by ictQATAR to provide a customised Domain Name Registry Solution and associated services for the .qa ccTLD. The .qa Domain Name Registry is a critical national asset and we have the experience and expertise to deliver a world-class solution that will serve the Qatari people for many years to come.”
“We look forward to working with AusRegistry International to build a secure and stable domain names registry for the State of Qatar,” said ictQATAR regulatory Authority Technical Affairs Manger Saleh Al-Kuwari.
In 2006, AusRegistry International was selected by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the United Arab Emirates to provide Domain Name Registry Software and associated services for the .ae ccTLD. AusRegistry International has recently added full support for Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs) to their Domain Name Registry Solution. IDNs are domain names that allow users to navigate the internet using their native script. This represents a significant advancement in usability for many millions of internet users across the world, including, of course, the Arabic-speaking community. Kinderis concluded: “Based on our technology and experience, AusRegistry International should be the first choice for other non English speaking countries wishing to update their ccTLD Registry technology to a proven, robust and reliable Registry System.”
