Access to the internet was denied for about two hours in Bangladesh immediately after the Supreme Court upheld the death penalty for Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid. According to reports, the internet service was restored around 3:15pm while it was found inaccessible from 1:15pm. Several social media networking sites remain inaccessible and some mobile phone apps are still not working. Earlier in the day, the government ordered blocking the internet service across the country on a temporary basis on security grounds.
