Radix announced their latest generic launch, .online has already received 550+ Sunrise requests, with 15 more days for the phase to end. The versatile nature of the TLD has attracted participation from brands across varied industry verticals.
From automobile and technology, to finance, fashion and food, there are requests for .online from across industries and geos. Apple leads the pack with 50+ Sunrise requests, accompanied by esteemed brands like Bank of America, Deutsche Telekom, Dow Jones & Company, Fossil, Jimmy Choo, Valentino, H&M, Google, Pandora, Paramount, Sky Entertainment, 20th Century etc.
Here is the percentage split of sunrise applicants by industry:
The versatile participation is an early indicator that the TLD strongly resonates with brands and they feel the need to secure their .online. With 15 days still to go, Radix expects some more last minute orders to further bump up the number, making .online a strong sunrise performer among other new domain launches.
.online has been amongst the most coveted new extensions in this round. Radix has gone a long way in securing .online—from beating Donuts, Iregistry and Whatbox in a private auction to buying back full rights to own and operate the TLD from JV Partners—Tucows and Namecheap.
Radix has actively been promoting .online as the hero of their portfolio across several conferences. Leading Registrars like GoDaddy, 1&1, UnitedDomains etc. have already started marketing the domain extension a month before launch, building up on pre-registrations.
Just like .site and .tech, .online will go through an Early Access Phase and then enter General Availability.
The launch schedule:
Sunrise ends: 17th Aug, 2015
Early Access Phase: 19th Aug to 26th Aug
General Availability starts: 26th Aug
