Verisign Named to the Online Trust Alliance’s 2016 Honor Roll

Verisign is pleased to announce that it has qualified for the Online Trust Alliance’s (OTA) 2016 Honor Roll for showing a commitment to best practices in security, privacy and consumer protection. This is the fourth consecutive year that Verisign has received this honor.

The OTA is a non-profit with the mission to enhance online trust and user empowerment while promoting innovation and the vitality of the internet. Now in its eighth year, the 2016 Audit encompasses nearly 1,000 websites across multiple sectors, examining consumer protection, security and privacy protection practices, and has been embraced by organizations worldwide as an objective benchmark report.

Some of the key changes in the 2016 methodology include tightened scoring on server and SSL configurations, increased weighting of Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance (DMARC) records, TLS/SSL granularity and Do Not Track (DNT) disclosures.

“Verisign is honored to qualify for the OTA’s 2016 Honor Roll. As the online threat landscape continues to evolve, it’s not enough for organizations to implement responsible data security practices; organizations must consider and include responsible data stewardship strategies and best practices within their security framework. It’s a pleasure to partner with the OTA to raise awareness about these issues as we continue our efforts in defending the internet’s security, stability and resiliency,” said Danny McPherson, senior vice president and chief security officer at Verisign, and OTA Board member.
