Women in Security Organize New Conference in Reaction to RSA’s Lack of Female Speaker Inclusion

RSA, one of the largest cybersecurity conferences, has been criticized for booking only one female keynote speaker this year who is Monica Lewinsky. She will be speaking against online bullying. Lewinsky herself has expressed concern over this “oversight”. In protest, a group of women have organized a new conference called OURSA (Our Security Advocates Conference) that will feature more women in the industry. “Some conferences claim this is too hard to do because of the overall lack of diversity in the industry, we’re going to prove otherwise,” a spokesperson for the conference told reporter Kate Conger from Gizmodo. OURSA will be a single-track, one-day conference to be held in San Francisco on April 17, 2018. Speakers include Adrienne Porter Felt of Google of Aanchal Gupta, Facebook, Sha Sundaram of Snap and Eva Galperin of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
