NeuStar, Inc. has announced that it has deployed network nodes in Sydney, Australia and Beijing, People’s Republic of China, further expanding NeuStar’s global constellation of DNS servers and enhancing the delivery of NeuStar UltraDNS services to the Asia-Pacific region. This expansion of NeuStar’s UltraDNS network infrastructure is poised to significantly improve Internet performance and security, and to further boost the growth of e-commerce in the region.
NeuStar’s UltraDNS Directory Services Platform consists of strategically distributed and redundant network nodes across five continents. Each node is a self-contained cluster of proprietary servers, systems, and data that improves response times to the Directory Services Platform for a given region’s Internet users. Within the UltraDNS network, end user DNS requests are routed to the closest geographic network node available, and are resolved instantly with the most up-to-date customer data.
The Beijing node, deployed in the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is NeuStar’s first in mainland China and complements NeuStar’s existing presence in Hong Kong. The Sydney node, deployed in one of Equinix’s Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centers, represents NeuStar’s first deployment in Australia, and the expansion will provide enhanced services to NeuStar’s growing customer base in the region.
“We are proud of our global enterprise and Top Level Domain customer base,” stated
Ben Petro, senior vice president of NeuStar Ultra Services. “NeuStar continually strives to bring our customers the most reliable DNS and traffic management services to support their business continuity and network requirements. Our presence in Australia and China will not only benefit enterprises based in those countries, but also organizations in other regions who want the very best online experience for their customers in the Asia- Pacific region.”
“When we were faced with the age-old ‘build-or-buy’ decision regarding our DNS infrastructure, NeuStar became the obvious choice,” said Andrew Humphrey, IT Operations Manager at the Australia-based REA Group (ASX: REA). “NeuStar provides 100% availability, an excellent track record of performance, massive scalability and cost-effective services. We are very excited by these new node deployments, which will greatly enhance our DNS performance in the Asia- Pacific region.”
The deployments reflect the continued growth of e-commerce across the Asia-Pacific region. According to a report by Chinese market research and advisory firm China Center for Information Industry Development Consulting, the trade volume of China’s e-commerce—which includes business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C) and consumer to consumer (C2C)—grew by 52% in 2006. AC Nielsen reported Australians spent A$12.5 billion online in 2006, a 63% increase on the previous year.
NeuStar also has positioned new network nodes in New York City and Miami, strengthening its North American network presence to meet growing demand.
