Based on its recent analysis of the vulnerability research market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Verisign iDefense with the 2012 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Differentiation Excellence. Verisign’s iDefense Security Intelligence Services, tailored to meet the challenges organizations are facing within their security infrastructures, have been met with great success.
“As the vulnerability landscape continues to change with the wave of new threats, Verisign’s research, which includes public vulnerability reports, and intelligence services are just a click away,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Richard Martinez. “Verisign iDefense Security Intelligence Services provide around-the-clock access to relevant and actionable cyber intelligence, supporting decision-makers with threat awareness, vulnerability management and incident management resources.”
While iDefense Vulnerability Intelligence provides organizations in-depth research to enhance their vulnerability management practices, iDefense Incident Response Services provide analysis and mitigation for organizations in the event of a cyber security incident. iDefense Threat Awareness Services offer organizations a global view of cyber threats with intelligence reports, real-time feeds, vulnerability information, and added value to security management tools and platforms.
Understanding that vulnerability research requires a global presence, Verisign created the iDefense Vulnerability Contributor Program that works with hundreds of expert vulnerability researchers traveling around the globe to provide insight into cyber underground, undiscovered vulnerabilities and global threats in more than 20 languages.
“The service provides an invaluable amount of information that would not be possible without this type of operation,” noted Martinez. “Further, Verisign iDefense focuses primarily on vulnerabilities that are prominent within its client organizations and which are valuable from an attacker’s perspective.”
The company does not just stop at tailoring its research to meet client needs. Verisign follows the vulnerability through its full lifecycle, which includes continuous updates. This value-added service includes information from the discovery of a vulnerability, its disclosure, the analysis of the vulnerability, mitigation, and finally to its patch availability.
Verisign also provides in-depth analysis on Patch Tuesday, which includes recommendations about which patches from major vendors are vital and which can be regarded as less urgent. In addition, Verisign notifies its clients when a critical patch must be updated immediately.
“Overall, Verisign provides high-level services to its clients using responsible reporting practices, which has helped maintain a strong reputation for skilled research and increased customer trust,” concluded Martinez.
In recognition of its commitment to quality and customer value, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present Verisign with the 2012 Product Differentiation Excellence Award in the vulnerability research market. Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed a product with unique features/functionality as well as high quality for customers with complex needs. The award lauds the degree of the product’s customization and the fit for evolving market trends, which ultimately results in a strong brand perception of the product as being unique.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
