NeuStar Expands UltraDNS Network Infrastructure in Europe

NeuStar, Inc. announced today that it has deployed a new UltraDNS network node in Amsterdam, Holland, further expanding NeuStar’s global managed DNS infrastructure. The new node—the third in Europe along with London and Luxembourg—will further increase the reliability and performance of the UltraDNS Managed DNS Service, especially for end users in Europe who will experience even faster resolution times for domains hosted on UltraDNS infrastructure.

The new European node is located at Telecity’s Amsterdam facility, which is part of the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX). The city of Amsterdam—and, specifically, AMS-IX—represents a highly strategic peering point. The city’s relatively centralized location on the continent helps to mitigate the effects of latency for customers throughout Europe, and AMS-IX has more connected members than any other Internet exchange worldwide. Given the strategic nature of the new UltraDNS node, NeuStar also anticipates enhanced performance for customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

“This new investment in our European infrastructure is a reflection of the growing demand we’re seeing in the Continent for the UltraDNS managed services,” said Alex Berry, senior vice president of NeuStar’s Internet Infrastructure service group. “Enterprises in Europe, as elsewhere in the world, are recognizing the importance of the DNS to the successful performance and security of their online operations and the need for an experienced, global managed DNS partner.”

NeuStar’s global managed DNS infrastructure consists of strategically distributed and redundant network nodes across five continents. Each node is a self-contained cluster of proprietary servers, systems, and data that improves response times for each region’s Internet users. Within the UltraDNS network, end user DNS requests are typically routed to the closest geographic network node available, and are resolved instantly with the most up-to-date customer data.

NeuStar now operates public nodes across five continents, with additional private nodes collocated with leading ISPs—making UltraDNS one of the largest and most widely distributed DNS infrastructures in the world.
