The 2012 Rankings – World Wide Web Foundation’s Web IndexSweden has been recognized as making the best use of its Internet access, according to the first annual World Wide Web Foundation’s Web Index survey.
The Web Index aims to be the world’s first multi-dimensional measure of the Web’s growth, utility and impact on people and nations. It covers 61 developed and developing countries, incorporating indicators that assess the political, economic and social impact of the Web, as well as indicators of Web connectivity and infrastructure.
Index Overview:
• Sweden tops the Web Index, followed by the United States and United Kingdom
• Yemen ranks bottom of the Index, preceded by Zimbabwe
• Brazil ranks highest of the BRICS countries, with South Africa the lowest
• Argentina is the lowest ranking G20 country, while Russia is the lowest ranking G8 country
• Turkey is the lowest ranking OECD country
