Watch ION Belfast / UKNOF Live Tuesday, Sept 9, for IPv6, DNSSEC, BGP Security and More

On Tuesday, September 9, 2014, you have a great opportunity to watch live a very packed agenda full of great sessions about IPv6, DNSSEC, routing/BGP security and other components of Internet infrastructure streaming out of the UKNOF / ION Belfast event in Belfast, UK. All of the sessions can be seen live at:

http://uknof.bogons.net/uknof29.html

The day starts with the second half of the UKNOF agenda—all times are British Summer Time (BST) which is UTC+1 and includes these interesting sessions:

  • 09:30 – Latest Internet Plague: Random Subdomain Attacks
  • 10:00 – Tales of the unexpected—handling unusual DNS client behaviour
  • 10:30 – Using 100 Billion DNS Queries to Analyse the Name Collision Problem
  • 11:30 – What went wrong with IPv6?
  • 12:00 – IPv6-only Data Centres: What happens when you turn off IPv4
  • 12:20 – An overview of BT’s network infrastructure in Ireland and Northern Ireland including connectivity to the the rest of the UK

Given that I’m five hours behind the UK on the eastern coast of the USA those sessions may be a bit early for me to watch—but the UKNOF live stream is being recorded and I’m told the videos will be available within a few weeks time.

After a lunch break, the Internet Society’s ION Belfast event will begin and will be live streamed at the same URL. Sponsored by Afilias, the events schedule (again in BST) will be:

  • 13:45 – Opening Remarks
  • 14:00 – Two Years After World IPv6 Launch: Are We There Yet?
  • 14:30 – Why Implement DNSSEC? (by Jim Galvin, who recently wrote about DNSSEC here on CircleID)
  • 15:00 – IPv6 Success Stories—Network Operators Tell All!
  • 16:00 – IETF Update
  • 16:15 – Panel: Routing Around Catastrophe
  • 17:00 – Securing BGP
  • 17:30 – Closing Remarks

Both events include great speakers and it should be an excellent and very educational day!

P.S. And look… it will all wrap up very nicely just before Apple’s big live event happening at 10:00 am US Pacific time! :-)
