Alabama Joins dotVOTE Movement - Announces Alabama.vote for Its Election Site

Alabama’s Secretary of State John H. Merrill has joined Secretaries of State from all over the country in making the process of registering to vote easier. Alabama has linked to the dotVOTE (.VOTE) movement to cut down on the confusion that voters may encounter if they move from one state to another and need information on voter registration. Just remember www.Alabama.vote, and you will be directed to the Alabama Secretary of State’s election information.

The new .VOTE and its Spanish/Italian/Portuguese counterpart .VOTO web addresses are dedicated to the political space. They are protected Internet domains where governments, elected officials, and political candidates can store important information for voters.

“During the National Association of Secretaries of State Winter Conference I attended in February, I met with the registry of .VOTE and I believe in their vision,” stated Secretary Merrill. “We hope that the .VOTE domain will play a big role in voter engagement by minimizing voter confusion and increasing voter access by providing a highly recognizable and user-friendly domain name.”

“.VOTE stands out as THE web domain for governments and political entities,” said Chuck Warren, president of the domain registry for .VOTE and .VOTO. “A trusted web space, .VOTE is where honest and effective voter engagement begins!”
